How to join?
A – All workers, including the retired ones, can adhere in the Tunisian General Labor Union willingly, regardless of their professional situation, and the trade unionist structures of the Tunisian General Labor Union complete the membership process, either with abidance or with direct cards according to the following provisions:
1 - The national administrative board sets the annual number of memberships in the Union.
2 - The payment of the membership fee occurs either through direct deduction according to the formula agreed about, or through the card which is renewed yearly.
- The membership begins with the beginning of each year, the department of internal organization and the department of administration and finances issue a layout according to which :
- The regional unions are asked to inform the basic structures about the beginning of the membership process and urged to complete it according to fixed deadlines.
3 - A commission involving not more than five people, appointed by the Regional Executive Office in coordination with the concerned sector structure and informing the department of internal organization of the union, collects the memberships and prepares the constitutional congress.
The role of the commission finishes with the issuing of the congress communication. The commission benefits from a legal protection, since it is an exceptional, momentary structure of the Tunisian General Labor Union.
4 – The payment of membership fees through direct deduction should be adopted whenever it is possible, in such case, the concerned basic, regional and local structure must follow-up its memberships and inform the regional union about any modification concerning the situation of its members, or their transfer to another job or region, therefore, settling the status of the members with the concerned department of the union. Every member should check his membership and tell the basic trade union if the administration or the company in which he works doesn’t perform the fee deduction for the union.
