Leading Instances

The national congress : It is the supreme decision maker and the last reference of the Tunisian workers Trade Union. It takes place every five year after the decision of the administration commission and exceptionally after the request of two thirds of the national council.

The national council : It is the second decision maker after the congress; it takes place every two years and exceptionally at the request of the majority of its members.

The national administrative commission : It is the third power directing the union. It takes its decisions on the basis of representation and meets every three months, after an invitation of the national executive bureau of the union, whenever necessary or exceptionally after the demand of two third of its members.

The national executive bureau : It is made up for thirteen members who are secretly elected by the national congress of the union for period of five years, which can be renewed only once.

The enlarged executive bureau : It is made up for the members of the national executive bureau and the general secretaries of the regional unions. It meets every month or whenever necessary.

The council of national sectors : It is made up of the general of the general secretaries of the leagues and general trade unions with the presence of the members of the national executive bureau of the union and meets every month or whenever necessary.

The General Secretary : He is the first responsible and the official speaker on behalf of the union and who directs the internal and external affairs. He also animates the trade unionist structures with the help of the members of the national executive bureau and the responsible director of ‘’Echaab’’ newspaper.

The national and regional structures :

The General leagues and the trade unions : The general league includes the workers of several sectors whereas the general trade union includes the workers of one or several subsidiaries of the concerned sector indicate by the internal organization of the union. 

The regional unions : There is a regional trade union in very district including all the local unions and the regional trade unions and the commission of regional organization.

The local unions : There is a local union in every city including all the workers as well as the retired ones in the region.

The subsidiaries of the leagues and the regional trade unions : The subsidiary of the league or the regional trade union is a regional structure representing the workers and the retired following it according to measures fixed by the internal organization of the unions and the trade unionist representative commissions following the sector.

The basic trade union : It is the basic structure and the representative of the union. The workers create it after a request. However, the number of its workers should not be less fifty with the necessity to inform the internal bureau of the general trade union. The congress of the basic trade union takes place every three years and exceptionally at the request of two thirds of its members.

The stable commissions :

The national commission of the internal organization : It tries to bring the different points of views closer, conciliate between the trade unionists and apply the basic law and internal organization of the union. It is also elected in the general congress.

The national commission of the internal law : It is concerned with all the trade unionist matters and the relationship between the trade unionist in the region and it is elected by the regional congress.    

The sector commission of material supervision : It performs material supervision on the sector level and is elected by the sector congress.

The advisory commissions :

The commission of working women : This commission is elected for four years and works under the aegis of the concerned department, nationally and locally according to the tasks fixed by the internal law of the union.

The commission of working youth : The national executive bureau appoints it for four years. It guides the young workers under the aegis of concerned department according to the measures of the internal law of the union.

The sector groupings : They are made up of: the group of the private sector, offices,
Public companies and the private sector.
These groupings are considered as technical consultative structures

The trade unionist university : It’s a scientific conference to study the matters occurring on the trade unionist level. It is held systematically

The finances of the union : It is made up of:
-Income of memberships
-From the income of the union’s belongings
-from the subsidies, aids, contributions, income of the concerts and festivals organized by the Union and following structures.

Hached secondary school : It’s a trade unionist institution responsible of training and cultivating the workers.

The trade unionist library : The Union has a national trade unionist library and regional ones concerned with training and cultivating the workers in the region.

The media : The Union has several means of information like newspapers, reviews, periodicals, and Echaab newspaper is considered to be the means of expression of the organization. it is published weekly according to the decision of the national executive bureau and has an independent administration under the aegis of the assistant general secretary of information and internet communicating. It tries to gather a public opinion supporting the cause that the Tunisian General Trade Union defends.
